For most of Henderson's history, the city has always been a large manufacturing center, and has recently strived to become much more diverse in their economy. The city is primarily a producer of metals and industrial chemicals, but the newly acquired diversification includes a competitive marketplace for communications technology.

The top industries that show growth in Henderson are educational facilities, medical and biomedical technology, the supplier industry, and computer and electronic transfer. Also more senior service centers are sprouting among the city due to the increase in seniors that have been relocating in the area.
