When most people outside of the southwestern United States think cities in Nevada, Las Vegas is the first one to come to mind. If they stretch their imaginations a bit, they can usually come up with Reno as a second location. Rarely do they think of buying a custom license plate frame in the city of Henderson, which has received a lot less acknowledgement in the popular media compared to the other two cities. However, Henderson is in fact the second most populous city in the state, after Vegas, and a great tourist spot in its own right.
Located just a few miles from the Las Vegas strip, a stay in Henderson means that all of the entertainment options of Sin City are easily accessible to those who stay here. Whereas Las Vegas offers the most fun a person can have in a city, though, Henderson expands the choices a visitor has. If you get tired of the bright lights of the big city, for example, why not take a trip into the beautiful Nevada wilderness which surrounds what is one of the best resort cities in the state? You can spend the day out on the water of man made Lake Mead, one of the best spots to sun bathe on the continent. Aquarium lighting has nothing on the beauty of a sunset as it hits this artificial wonder in the middle of the desert.
If you feel like being active, then it is good to know that the city of Henderson was named the sixth best walking city in the country. Not only is the weather almost always perfect for walking in, there are over 35 miles of prime walking trails right in the city. That's good news for anyone getting in shape for a womens hockey tournament in nearby California.
Speaking of California, did you know that most of the show CSI is filmed there, despite the fact it is set in Las Vegas? Many of the parts of the show not filmed in California are filmed right in Henderson, although once again Hollywood has failed to imprint the impact of our city on the popular mindset. Many of the tidy subdivisions and palm lined streets you see in the show are neither in Vegas or California, but are shot from the streets of the friendly neighbourhoods of Henderson.
